Christmas Walk In the Village and Historic Home Tour
December 1-2, 2012


Come celebrate Christmas the old fashioned way, with carriage rides, boutique shopping, carolers,outdoor entertainment and open house and special sales and refreshments served by our businesses. Our historic village is always dressed for the holidays with thousands of Christmas lights and individually decorated windows. Traditional Christmas greens and swags add to the Village charm.

Santa's Arrival by helicopter to Academy Park will be on Saturday, December 3rd at 11:30am! See you there! Welcome Santa as he makes his grand entrance into the village on Saturday, December 3rd at 11:30am at Academy Park by Helicopter (weather permitting) provided by Rainbow Air, Inc. Santa will be escorted by carriage where all the boys and girls follow him for the special Santa Promenade down Center Street!

Meet Santa! – Santa will greet the children at the Lewiston 1812 Bicenntenial Peace Garden Courtyard, (behind the Little Yellow Chocolate House) following the Santa Promenade down Center St. Afterwards, he will be in the Olde Time Barber Shop along with his helpers.

Enjoy familiar Christmas favorites, Frosty, The Grinch and Rudolph as they promenade up and down Center Street on Saturday and Sunday from 11am – 4pm.

Center Street will be alive with musicians and carolers on Saturday and Sunday both outside and inside various businesses. Shops will be open as well during the Christmas Walk and many will offer complimentary hot beverages, sweets and special drawings!

Complimentary Carriage Rides on Saturday from 11:30 – 4pm and Sunday from noon – 3pm sponsored by Residents for Responsible Government, Inc (RRG). Drop off and Pick up in front of First Niagara Bank, 500 Center Street.

 Send your Letters to Santa!

Kids – get your letters written and delivered to Santa, right here in Lewiston! The red and green regulation size mailbox on Center St will deliver your letter directly to the North Pole! The mail box can be found outside of First Niagara Bank ( 500 Center St). Any letters addressed to Santa that are placed in the box by December 17 th will receive a response before Christmas! This is not a U.S. Postal Service mail box. Letters will go to the North Pole only!

Lighting of the Holiday Tree at Hennepin Park

On Friday, Dec. 2nd at 6:30 PM the Village of Lewiston Recreation Dept. invites everyone to Hennepin Park at 4 th and Center for the Annual Lighting of the tree for the Christmas Walk. Jerry Mosey will emcee for the evening. The tree will be lit by Mayor Terry Collesano. Entertainment will be provided by Lewiston Dance Center, and St. Peter’s School Chorus and Another Thyme will lead the Carols. There will be a visit by the man in the red suit. The Holiday Tree was donated by the Lewiston Garden Club. For further information call 754-1990.

 Sixth Annual Tour of Homes

December 1st & 2nd from 10am – 5pm. Tickets are $25 per person (not suitable for young children). A tour of five spectacular homes dressed up for the holidays, held in conjunction with the Lewiston Christmas Walk. Complimentary Trolley service will be provided between homes.  Cookies and Crafts with Santa onThursday, Dec. 2, 2010 at 6:30PM in the Lewiston Red Brick Gym, N. 4 th St. and Onondaga St. Children are invited to attend a cookie social with the “man in the red suit.” Along with the cookies will be crafts and the opportunity to tell Santa what is on their holiday list. The cost for each child will be $5.00. Seating is limited to 50 children. Please call the Rec. Dept. at 754-1990 or 754-8271 to make a reservation

Angel to Apple – Come & join us on Friday for the Open House Grand Opening celebration at our new location; 451 Center Street from 4- 8pm. Saturday from 11:30 - 3:00pm we will have Christmas Karaoke sing along for a discount. Throughout the entire weekend there will be discounts, raffles and goodies to win!

Artzee...- 549 Center Street. Kids can create a make and take Christmas ornament for $1.00. For every ornament sold, Artzee will match the cost and donate the proceeds to Carolyn’s House. Craft hours are from 12pm -4pm both Saturday and Sunday.

 Breakfast with Santa- The Village of Lewiston Recreation Dept. is sponsoring a Breakfast with Santa on Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010 at 10 AM in the Lewiston Red Brick Gym, N. 4 th St. and Onondaga St. before he arrives by helicopter. Bring your children to enjoy breakfast with the “man in the red Suit.” Children will get to spend time sharing with Santa their Christmas list. The donation for the breakfast is $5.00 per child. Holiday Arts and Crafts at the Village of Lewiston Recreation Department. - As part of the Christmas Walk activities, children are encouraged to attend the Holiday Arts and Crafts to paint ornaments, make gifts, make a holiday decoration or just have fun creating things. The Holiday Arts and Crafts is being held on Sat. Dec. 4, 2010 from 1 to 3 PM in the Red Brick Gym, N. 4 th and Onondaga St. Children over 4 can visit anytime during this time period. There is no charge for the crafts or materials. Since paint is used for some of the crafts, a smock or old t-shirt is suggested. Bring a box to carry your creations home. No pre-registration is necessary.

The Lewiston Choraleers is a community chorus, comprised of a group of 45-50 male and female singers, and is directed by Don Shrimpton. 

Macri’s Italian Grille – Lunch with Santa & Mrs. Clause – December 11,12, 18 & 19 th with first sitting from 11am – 12:30pm, and second sitting from 1pm – 2:30pm. Cost is $10 per child and $12 per adult. Tax and gratuity included (includes dessert & coffee, tea or a soft drink). Santa and Mrs. Claus will personally meet and great each guest! Each child will receive a coloring book, crayons and magic dust to light Santa’s way on Christmas Eve. Reservations are necessary. Tickets available at Marci’s Italian Grille or by calling 754-4500. Old Fort Niagara will come alive by lantern light with “The Castle by Candlelight” Saturday nights, December 11 th and 18 th from 7:00pm - 8:30pm. Meet soldiers, fur traders, cooks and artisans from the 18 th century. Enjoy traditional refreshments. Witness firing the Christmas Guns, enjoy period music. Admission is $8 per person. Our Lady of Fatima Shrine, 1023 Swann Road, Lewiston, will be hosting its Nineteenth Annual Festival of Lights from November 20, 2010 to January 2, 2011. The lights are on every evening from 5pm until 9pm. A great family event featuring a nine-foot illuminate angel gazing over super-life size Nativity scene with over 50 other displays celebrating Christ, the Prince of Peace. Admission is free. First Presbyterian Church of Lewiston, 505 Cayuga Street, Lewiston, will host an 11am Worship Service with a 12pm Christmas Lunch in Social Hall (a good will offering will be accepted) on December 19th. At approx 12:45, Children from the community (age 6-12) will perform the Christmas Play “Star of Wonder”. They started rehearsing in October and are a very dedicated group of children. Come and enjoy in the excitement of the children and the Christmas season. The annual Christmas Eve Family Service (Communion will be offered) will take place on December 24 th at 6pm.
