Chamber Update for the Week

This week has been a cold one.  We often forget that Winter is real...mostly because our snow is generally minimal, and weather has been steady!  This Saturday the Lewiston Businesses are celebrating a Valentine's event, hoping to capture some early Valentine's day sales!    Stop on out and grab some great discounts and promotions!

Here is a listing of what we have been working on this week!

~We met with Nick Costrino who designed our Harvest & Hops Festival logo.  He is currently working on our Christmas Walk / Parade logo!  It's time we have an identity around that event! We are happy to start this process now so we will be ready to brand that event in the summer.

~Jennifer is the Chairperson of the Niagara Area Foundation and met with the new board members at TReC.  Have you had a meeting at TReC yet?  It's a great space for convening with meeting space for any size!  A warm welcome to Allen and Brenda who are joining the Niagara Area Foundation and the work that we do to focus on youth development and the environment!

~We closed out the music application process for the Jazz Festival.  Applications were accepted through January 31st.  We had 70 applications (not including our headliner considerations).  So much talent in our region!  The Executive Board of the Jazz Festival met to discuss sponsorships and planning for the festival.

~We have a new member!  Taquito Lindo-Lewiston has joined the Chamber!  They will have a soft opening on Tuesday, February 7th!  Stop by and say hello!

~The Executive Board of the Chamber met in preparation of the board meeting next week.  It was a time of reflection from our board retreat, and focusing on the outcomes of that.  Our executive board drives the board and this year we are happy to have a very strategic plan to get things done!

~ Jennifer took Skip Mazenauer, Niagara Frontier Publications as well as the owner and a sales manager from WEBR AM1440 radio out to lunch on Thursday at Apple Granny!  We discussed their challenges and opportunities to help our members!  If you are interested in marketing opportunities with these two businesses, let us know and we will direct you in the right place!

~We sold $150 worth of River Region Gift Certificates this week!  That is $150 that will be spent AT OUR MEMBER BUSINESSES!

~Our new member First Nations Copywriter, Beth Rickard, celebrated a ribbon cutting with her ADORABLE family on Thursday at the Tuscarora Nation House.  We are so happy to have been able to connect Beth with opportunities to grow her business!

Last but not least, we welcome a part-time Executive Assistant starting on Tuesday!  Details to come!
